Venues

I admit that I had been in the hunt for the perfect wedding venue for sometime. I probably started fantasizing about my dream wedding some six months after fiance and I started dating. (Guilty!) But I just knew, that he was the one!

Number one, I knew I didn't want to get married or have a reception that looked too ballroom-y, golfesque, or hotel-y. (Unless I was tying the knot in NYC of course.) I just knew I didn't want red or green carpet anywhere! So that left quite the dilemma.

I grew up in Pinehurst, golf capital of the world, and the only venue I see people use is the Fair Barn. I just couldn't bring myself to use that space or even think about it. It's really cute, but I had my prom there and it's HUGE! I don't have a guest list of 300 y'all!!

Pretty though right? But alas, this led to the important realization that I probably did not want to get married back home, much to my mothers disapproval. Fiance and I live in Raleigh and have for about six years now and it's the middle for all of our family so it just felt right to look here.

So I began my search in Raleigh, but really liked Bay 7 and the Cotton Room in Durham. I also adored Bald Head Island, but I knew that would be way pricey and my family isn't loaded. Darn. I also loved the idea of the mountains but logistics were complicated and honestly budget was the number one deciding factor about everything!

In April (still before I was officially engaged) I ran aground on a wedding at this beautiful venue in RALEIGH of all places and I emailed them before the day was over. Yes I sure did! It's this little (big 3,000 sq ft) venue on the main strip of Raleigh, Fayetteville Street. It's name, the Stockroom at 230. (Don't google stockroom, you'll find yourself amongst choices for the finest porn items..) It's AMAZING! Brick walls, original hardwood flooring, endless opportunity! What more could a girl ask for?! Just to be more creative than I feel.. Hmm..

Without further ado, my venue ladies and gents, (a small preview!)

Cute right?!

xoxo,
a.
